Trekking
With its lush tropical forests, hills and dales, caves and cascades, roaring rivers and gurgling streams and flora and fauna, Karnataka is a trekker’s paradise. Trekking trails are mostly located in the Ghat districts of Uttara and Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Hassan and Kodagu. Try railway-track trekking through the spectacular Western Ghats between the towns of Donigal and Kukke Subramanya. This unique activity lets you savour natural beauty while watching trains thunder by. Die-hard trekkers can explore the coastline on foot via the enchanting Golden Trek from Karwar to Gokarna.
Tadiyendamol, the tallest peak in Kodagu, from where you can view the distant Arabian Sea on a clear day, is a trekker’s delight. The ideal time for trekking is immediately after the monsoon, from September to December.

YANA CAVES

Location : 40 Kms For Sirsi, Karnataka
Recreation Activities : Trekking, Camping
Dificulty Level : Moderate To Difficult

Located amongst the evergreen forest of the Sahyadri Mountains, Yana Caves are 25 kms for Kumta, a small coastal town and 40-km for Sirsi, a commercial centre. One can experience wilder ness in all its holiness and loneliness in this limestone rock dome paradise. Yana is known for its unique rock formations and is a haven for rock climbers.

One has to walk several miles on the partially paved road from the highway. The area is known for its majestic mountains, a variety of rock formations, tricking waterfalls and the holy temple.

One can go for a simple climb around the rock dome or explore the cave in between the dome. There is also a possibility of going hiking to Vibhuti Falls and camp overnight in the area.

The tallest peak, Bhariraveswara Shikhara stands 120 meters high whereas Mohini Shikhara is 90 meters from its base. The mighty rocks have been roughened by the vagaries of burning Sun, uncontrolled winds and torrential rains. They are solid composition of black, crystalline limestone. Wild bees have taken liberty to construct their hives on these rock-shelters.

The trek is moderate to strenuous

Though Goan inland does not have high mountains, small or medium sizes hills not exceeding a couple of thousand feet in height offer some chances to go for a short trekking. Some old temples are also located on hilltop and trekking the way up amidst a deep jungle is an enjoyable experience.

Golf
The Leela Beach and Ramada Renaissance, both in south Goa, have small nine hole courses.

Bullfights
It doesnt pay to abe a matador in goa. Here, bullfights are between two bulls, no matador needed. The fighting season starts around early October and lasts till May. The most popular locations are in one of the villages around Panjim like Taleigao (the most famous fights are held here), Santa Cruz or Caranzalem. They are also held near and around Margao in south Goa at the villages of Velsao and Benaulim. The fights usually begin around 4 pm, after siesta to the sound of taped Konkani music.

Jog Falls

Jog Falls
These magnificent falls are 105 kms away from Shimoga. The River Sharavathi takes a spectacular leap at a height of 292 m in four distinct falls - Raja, Rani, Rocket and Roarer - to form the highest waterfalls in India. The best time to visit these falls is soon after the monsoons during July-August. The backwaters of the Sharavati Wildlife Sanctuary offer excellent opportunities for water sports
